Biography

With extensive experience in private business and public service, BettyLou DeCroce joined the Assembly on February 16, 2012.  She currently serves on the Education Committee, the Women and Children Committee, the Higher Education Committee, and the Joint Legislative Committee for Public Schools.

Assemblywoman DeCroce is committed to fighting for common sense legislation to promote private sector growth, create jobs, and reduce the tax burden on job-creating businesses and families.

Before serving in the Legislature, Assemblywoman DeCroce was serving as Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, where she authored the Best Practices for municipalities, which has become a model for identifying efficiencies in local government that reduce property taxes.

Previously, she served her community in several capacities including Councilwoman in Mine Hill Township, and Deputy Township Manager and Municipal Clerk in Roxbury Township. She was a long-time Commissioner of the Morris County Joint Insurance Fund and North Jersey Health Insurance Fund. The Assemblywoman also served as Chairwoman for the Joint Insurance Fund which oversaw forty municipalities. As Chairwoman, she worked closely with the forty municipalities to reduce costs through shared services.

Assemblywoman DeCroce has hands-on experiencing owning and operating the family business, ERA Gallo & DeCroce, Inc.

Assemblywoman DeCroce has also been active in volunteering for community service, serving on the NJ Crime Victims Law Center as a Trustee, and most notably helping to pass a Constitutional Amendment to protect the rights of crime victims in New Jersey. She has also brought grant money to her community to combat drug and alcohol abuse as former President of the Municipal Alliance Committee. Also, she served four years on the Planning Board in Roxbury Township and as a Board Member for eleven years on the Board of Adjustment for Parsippany Township. During her tenure of volunteerism, she served as Vice Chair of the Morris County Employers Legislative Committee for ten years.

The Assemblywoman is a licensed Municipal Clerk and Licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the State of New Jersey.

Assemblywoman DeCroce is a lifelong resident of Morris County and currently resides in Parsippany. Assemblywoman DeCroce has two sons and three grandchildren.
